BVC-CHAT computer down need help

maddogs laptop has crashed and he needs help fixing it. My laptop running MS XP home edition has crashed and I need help restoring it on the cheap. Why this is a relavent cycling related thread? Most of my BVC files such as my route maps, tour de Dirt, Spring training rides,  Summer  TT series and BVC memberships  which are not backed up on my thumbdrive and not backed up anywhere are on the HD.
The problem
corrupt file: <windowsroot>\system32}ntoskrnl.exe
Computer will not boot up in safe mode, or in safe mode with command prompt or with recovery disk in CD drive and generally any input keyed in not followed
Any thoughts on what to try next. Presently I am on Sue's traveling work computer so i can follow instructions via email. Or call 764-6531. Thanks
