I think we should meet as a group - maybe have lunch together if anyone
wants to do that and then ride together to Grace Bible Church.

Don't forget to 'Wear Yellow'.

Subject: BVC-CHAT Roelof and Memorial

Roelof passed away yesterday at 12:12 pm. I got the news as I was
driving home down my street -- my neighbor Bill was taking Roelof's
brother Johann somewhere and they pulled over and let me know and let me
know I could go in and see Loela.

Loela had several friends surrounding her. Johnna, whom I've been
checking in with for updates on Roelof, Toby (or was that Jody?), and
Adrianna who was visiting when last I visited. Her Mom was there too.
Loela had as much serenity in her as ever; her Mom was feeling the loss.

I asked and she told us about the last few days. Roelof's last thoughts
making sure everything was set up to care for Loela and prayers for his
loved ones. He said several times he was ready to go to Jesus.

I saw the poster he got from Lance, it was a yellow tinted racing shot
of Lance, about 12"x20", personalized for Roelof. Loela said indeed,
Roelof was awake and aware that he had gotten it.

Loela said he went straight up to heaven, no transfers or detours, and
is riding his bike in the clouds now.

I didn't stay long. I thought about cancelling dinner plans, but
decided I would just be a bit late -- Loela seemed to be well surrounded
by people who love her and love Roelof, and I thought that would be
okay. I hope she knows she has my love, honor, respect, admiration for
the burden she has carried in these last two years, and the grace and
strength she has displayed in it. Lets keep her in our thoughts in the
upcoming months -- she will at times miss Roelof terribly.

The Memorial is Saturday at 2 pm at Grace Bible Church at 700 Anderson
in College Station, and we are welcome to come on our bikes in bicycling
clothing. Loela indicated Roelof would have liked that. I think anyone
whose life has been touched by Roelof's story and the emails about him
should consider coming.

(I think I'm going to ride in the morning and get home to shower before
going to the Memorial though.)

Do we want to meet up and ride together to the memorial? Ride from
Roelof's house or the flagpole or the High School? Please, let me know
your thoughts. We can also just go individually.

I wanted to offer my thanks to the many club members who have read the
updates and emailed personally and publicly to offer their support to
Loela and Roelof and me and others in the club who are friends of
Roelof.

Jean Marie
