I agree with Rob - we should have insurance, but what exactly does this mean 
for the club?  I think having day of ride "memberships" for a couple of 
bucks - enough to cover the insurance plus the effort made to organize the 
ride - is a viable option.

Also, I really think we should just bite the bullet, and make all 
memberships start on January 1st.  Then we don't have the hassle of figuring 
out who is paid up on the 15th of May, as opposed to the 17th of June.  If 
we feel that the club has enough funds right now, we can just extend all of 
the memberships that are due to expire sometime this year until December 
31st.  Then, starting in December, we can collect yearly (as in due before 
Jan 1) membership dues.  That would eliminate the need to record all of the 
separate dates on the website, and no one would have the excuse of not 
knowing when their membership is due, or when they paid it!  We could send 
out a few general reminders on BVC Chat during November and December (and 
realistically, one in January ;-)!)
