Biking uphill on a clunky one-speed with a loose chain proved to be
impossible for my tired legs.  However, I was able to push the bike
uphill, and the downhill ride was a lot of fun.  I'd forgotten what it
felt like to ride around without a helmet ... (no one wears one here,
and I don't have one with me).  I rented a bike in Kyoto yesterday.
It is better for riding around in the center of town than for going to
temples in the hills at the outskirts.
